Character ID allocation & AUCTION

Post by Phoenix » 2019-06-20, 17:32

TL;DR: Please spend your newly-created DM in buying eternal virtual goods: pointers to the database: STATUS for sale.
Auction ends 6DW54 (any chance to get forum time displayed in Dragon Time in addition to legacy time?)

YH The Grand Duke, Princes and Princesses, distinguished Peers, ladies and gentlemen,

As you all remember from CK, this Game is all about developing your Character. The essence of the Character is embodied in the Title. We are not selling titles here, though, because I have a special affinity in selling CharacterID's instead.

The database of the Kingdom of the Dragon is commanded via simple routines or CLI (command line) commands. To give DM to someone, for example, the command to be used is "GIVE DM amount recipient". So, for me to give 100 DM to Waffa, i'd type: "GIVE DM 100 Waffa". Here, Waffa is a character_shortname, which is a unique pointer to the character object. The same pointers are used across the whole id-space, so nobody else can be "Waffa", because then we would not know which Waffa we are talking about.

Because Character is the most important thing in the Universe, the numeral pointers to the universal id-space, are reserved for Characters. In practice, they are for accounts (which might include also NPC, MPC, corp, FOC and other accounts). Anyway, only one can be "1" and only 1,000 can be among the first 1,000. In planned subgame implementations where avatars need to be represented with very little data, they might be tagged with [level, charID]. Then the Dragon running loose would, in addition to the sprite of a Dragon, have the text (69, 501) or (L69, #501) or similar. This gives the seasoned player exactly the information he needs: the strength of the character, and its 'age'.

I promised that the FF characters will get nice small charID's in addition to the ones in 501-520 (which also look pretty cool when there are 157 million players). Now is the time.

At this moment, please do not speculate with char_shortnames. (I barely allowed "KingKing" to be a char_shortname.) Due to technical reasons, we might want to edit the shortnames, and then it sucks if you thought you bought a cool one, which later is banned. Some terms are restricted because of their game-playing significance. Some strings, such as "give" above, are used for commands, and are unavailable for shortnames.

Unused CharID's may be sold or assigned to a Character, or pointed to another Character (same way as both shortname and CharID refer to the same thing). What could be cooler than giving your friend an account with a nice low CharID?

Well trust my marketing speech or not, you will see ;)

I hereby assign the CharID=1 to Dragon and CharID=2 to Soul. The other single-numbers are one of the highest honours that can be given, and I will personally assign them when appropriate. "3" knows who he is.

We are now 20 FF players, and everyone's got DM (initial balances in the Honor Roll).

5DW110: Please read rules additions and current situation here, or from the latest post.

The Auction does not have a specified end time, until I mark it in red in the OP (the post before this). When this happens, the end time must be at least 24 hours in the future. The auction ends at the specified time, however earliest 180 seconds after the last post. I plan to keep this open for a week or so, and close it before we get new characters.

Bids must be minimum 2x the previous bid, and minimum 100 DM.

Each character may at most receive 3 CharID's in this allocation. If someone does not bid for anything, GM will still allocate her one from this range. In addition, everyone gets to keep the (501...520) id and do what she wishes with it. The ones not sold or otherwise allocated now, will be retained by the Game.

Just a quick note: remember that in case of same level, the next and final determinant of Highness in Honor Roll is char_id(ascending).

I don't need to buy them for myself, because I anyway get to allocate the rest that you don't buy :D
So I will not participate in the auction. Hope there is enough competition.
All the money goes to the black hole and disappears from the Game. (If enough money disappears this way, we will all get a DM dividend!!)

The following CharID's are for sale/grabs.
All the changes in CharID table and DM balances, happen automatically! Enjoy!

Hmmmmm... I enjoy the significance of #3 on the honor roll. Combined with my sign-up number on the forum/world itself as #9. And of course the trinity itself.

3+3+3=9

9+3=12

12 is simplified as 1+2=3

:o

1-2 allocated already.
As for the rest, if you keep yourself long enough in Honor Roll single digits, one of these may be allocated to you ;)
In general, Honor Roll seniority is very important 8-)

A beggar of some-sorts finds his way to an open auction,
he reaches his hand in his pocket where usually only gems of abundance and guardian angels reside..
,BUT then Out-of-the-Blue discovers something dragoning in his pocket..
he pulls it out and to his surprise sees the auctionhouse accepting these exact marks and carefully places 3 bets:

Char_id 10 bid 200 DM

Char_id 11 bid 200 DM

Char_id 13 bid 200 DM

Char_id 49 bid 100 DM

Just incase pats himself on the cheek to see if he was dreaming,
...
