Two days ago 1, 110 and 11 - that being me - went to see Ilja, 119, at his home. He was bedridden, and in intolerable pain, even morphine did not help. I am happy that we got to see him in time, and sad that it was the final goodbye. We were the last of his friends to see him before his passing away.
The last five years with Ilja have been extraordinary with extreme highs and lows. There was never a dull day in this rollercoaster.
A great friend and heroic warrior is gone - but will not be forgotten. His Light will shine in eternity.
Thank you, Ilja, for everything. We are all going to miss you tremendously - but that you already know...
